About

The first time I used a sewing machine was in 2017, in a weekend "How to make a tote bag" class. I broke 10 needles in under an hour. I decided, "Hm, sewing probably isn't for me," and I'm pretty sure my instructor agreed. 😏

Then in late 2018, my aunt gave me an old Husqvarna sewing machine from the 80s. It was mostly working, except that it couldn't sew in reverse. Somehow, I sewed my first quilt on it and began to take up sewing as a serious hobby, and replaced the machine with a Brother CS6000i.

Sewing has been the perfect outlet for me: I love making things with my hands, I love how it makes me use my problem solving skills, I love slowing down and being forced to break a project into smaller pieces, I love listening to an audiobook while I'm at it, and I love the online (and offline) sewing community, which has been incredibly delightful and welcoming. I even went to sewing camp in 2019! I especially love sharing my love for sewing with others, and I hope I can do this with my blog!
